Just like every business and home has a unique address so the post office can deliver mail, so does every computer and device. These addresses are known as Internet Protocol Addresses or IP Addresses for short. Even though everything is stored in binary on the computer, IP Addresses are usually written so humans can understand them, like telephone numbers. Since every computer, printer, router, smart phone, and more devices are connected to the Internet, the number of IP Addresses are growing fast.
